Maple Seed “Whirligig” Silver Dangle Earrings cast of non-tarnishing silver (93.5% silver content).

Artist collected and preserved young spring leaves then built up the leaf into a model in wax. The artist then used the lost wax process to cast the original model. A mold was made to cast subsequent pieces. The earrings each have two bright non-tarnishing silver maple seeds dropping from silver ball posts.

The Maple symbolizes the tree of offering, generosity, balance, promise and practicality. Maple seeds, called samaras, have wings designed to carry them some distance away from the mother tree. These earrings, like the seeds from which they were formed, have a lot of movement and are fun to wear. These earrings are beautiful reproductions of nature’s best work.
